Why Taxvise?

Hey there

I'm Chanie Rodrigo, a Chartered Accountant and Enrolled Agent, and the face behind Taxvise. I spent over a decade as a Tax Professional at EY and KPMG, as well as in the Corporate Sector in Sri Lanka. People often ask me why I left my full-time job to start Taxvise .To be honest, there wasn't some big, profound reason behind it. The truth is, Taxvise was born out of Necessity and Passion.

Passion

My interest in US Tax developed while working as a Group International Tax Manager for one of the Largest Manufacturing Firms, headquartered in the United States, with a Backend Services Center in Sri Lanka. This led me to pursue further studies in US Tax, and I became the First Enrolled Agent in Sri Lanka.

Necessity

The Owner of a Small CPA firm reached out to me for help with preparing Tax returns and gathering information—mundane but essential tasks to meet deadlines. She struggled to juggle client relationships and build her business. This highlighted a critical need for support with backend preparation and documentation for growing CPA and EA Firms. It’s been an interesting journey so far. Based on feedback, I’ve been able to better understand client needs and refine how I serve CPA and EA Firms. What is 7216 and what's the requirement?

IRC § 7216 is a disclosure form mandated by the IRS, and it comes in two variations: one tailored for your 1040 returns and another that can be integrated into engagement letters for business returns. Even when the individual preparing the return is a staff member of the firm, any tax return from the 1040-series prepared outside the U.S. mandates a signed 7216 consent from the client. Moreover, it’s common practice for many firms to inform their business clients through their standard engagement letters.
